Lucknow Swachhata Abhiyan Kicks off the “Swachchta ka Sankalp” Campaign and “#ReBIGGreenGanesha” initiative
Set to transform the city’s environmental health
Lucknow, 5th September 2024 – Lucknow Swachhata Abhiyan (LSA), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Re Sustainability Limited, is proud to launch the “Swachchta ka Sankalp” campaign. Led by LSA and the Lucknow Municipal Corporation, the campaign aims to mobilize community participation in cleanliness activities, promote responsible waste disposal, and foster civic pride and ownership of a clean environment.
The campaign’s objective is to raise awareness about cleanliness and waste management, mobilize community participation in cleanliness activities, promote waste segregation, and foster civic pride and ownership of a clean environment. This program also aims to engage students, youth, and residents on sustainable living, generate support through effective communication and outreach, evaluate the campaign’s impact on behavior change and cleanliness, document lessons and best practices for future initiatives, and create a lasting legacy of cleanliness and environmental stewardship in Lucknow.
Following the launch, an awareness drive will be conducted from September 5th to 8th in residential areas, distributing informational leaflets and engaging residents in door-to-door campaigns. The locations include Area 1090, Ward 17, Ward 28 – Zone 1, Maithli Sharan Gupt, Ward 77 – Zone 7, Jugaili Crossing, Ravindra Palli, Ward 37 & Ward 14, Near Janeshwar Mishra Park – Zone 4, Ward 89, Seetala Devi – Zone 6, and Ward 109, Aliganj – Zone 3.
Also, on the occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi, ReSL and 92.7 BIG FM have partnered for the 17th edition of their #ReBIGGreenGanesha initiative, which aims to promote sustainable practices during Ganeshotsav. This year’s initiative involves distributing 15,000 eco-friendly seed Ganesha idols across the country.
The seed Ganesha idols can be planted after the immersion ritual, symbolizing new life. To further reduce plastic waste, the initiative encourages listeners to donate plastic bottles, which will be used for pandal decorations and later recycled or repurposed. Volunteers will also support Ganesh pandals by maintaining cleanliness and promoting eco-friendly practices.
The mayor expressed optimism about the campaign’s potential impact, saying: “The Swachchta ka Sankalp campaign will be an example of what can be achieved when we work together towards a common goal. I commend LSA for their tireless efforts in supporting this initiative and their commitment to making Lucknow a cleaner and greener city. With their expertise and our collective efforts, I am confident that we will make a significant impact and create a better future for our citizens.” said Smt. Sushma Khrakwal, Hon’ble Mayor, Lucknow Municipal Corporation.
Shri Indrajeet Singh, Lucknow Municipal Commissioner highlighted the campaign’s strategic approach, noting: “The strength of this campaign lies in its ability to bring everyone to the table. By aligning our efforts with the Swachh Survekshan’s indicators, we are not only aiming to improve our ranking but also creating a sustainable model for cleanliness that can be replicated across the country. I am eager to see the impact we can make when we work together towards a common goal,” added Hon’ble Commissioner, Lucknow Municipal Corporation.

Our door-to-door waste collection and segregation initiatives, coupled with our innovative sustainable solutions, will significantly reduce waste disposal issues and improve the overall cleanliness of the city.

After the initial activities of the campaign, on-ground cleanliness activities will be conducted from September 9th to 13th in the same locations as the awareness drive, mobilizing volunteers to clean streets and public spaces, paint murals, and install decorative bins.
Later on, waste segregation awareness will be conducted from September 14th to 18th in the same locations, setting up awareness stalls in busy marketplaces, parks, and community centers, demonstrating waste segregation processes, and distributing informational pamphlets.
Additionally, hotspot clearance and tree plantation drives will be conducted from September 19th to 23rd in the same locations, organizing tree plantations in hotspot areas with LMC officers and local councilors.
Finally, continued engagement activities will be conducted from September 24th to 28th in the same locations, hosting workshops and seminars on sustainable living, composting, and reducing single-use plastics.
This initiative will culminate on October 3rd with a closing ceremony showcasing campaign achievements and recognizing active participants.
The “Swachchta ka Sankalp” campaign marks a significant milestone in Lucknow’s journey towards becoming a cleaner, greener, and more sustainable city.
