Adani Port and SEZ (APSEZ) at Mundra, is India’s largest privately operated seaport. Spanning over 135 sq km, it comprises a port, a Special Economic Zone (SEZ), and residential areas. Re Sustainability Limited (ReSL) partnered with APSEZ to develop and enhance comprehensive waste management infrastructure and systems across these facilities.
ReSL upgraded the existing waste management yard by establishing a Material Recovery Facility (MRF) equipped for waste segregation, composting, plastic shredding, wood chopping, and bale packing. This facilitated efficient resource recovery and ensured waste was processed in economically viable quantities for recycling.
A streamlined waste collection and transport system was implemented to manage waste generated across the port, SEZ, and residential areas. Special protocols enabled direct waste unloading from berthed ships into designated transport vehicles.
To engage stakeholders, ReSL introduced awareness programs and conducted door-to-door waste collection drives to clear accumulated waste and educate residents on proper waste disposal practices. These initiatives supported APSEZ’s commitment to a “Zero Waste to Landfill” approach, significantly increasing the volume of recycled waste.
